Tomorrow is the beginning of the school year! First and foremost, I would like to welcome everyone back and look forward to a great year!  As a reminder, tomorrow is our first day of school. It is a half day for everyone and ends at 11:30am. Again, school will be dismissed tomorrow at 11:30am. For Drummond Island parents: The parking lot has been expanded.  Please park only on the gravel and leave plenty of room for the bus to make the turn out of school.  For DeTour parents and students: Be advised the road heading into the school is now a one way with all traffic entering off St. Mary’s St and exiting on South Caribou Lake road. In addition, please be patient as we finalize the bond project work from this summer.  Everyone is working very hard to get everything completed. Your patience is greately appreciated Once again, we look forward to getting a great start to the new year.  Have a great rest of your evening.

The 20 Time Project. To help inspire innovation and creativity. Google developed the idea and offered employees 20% of their time to work on a project of their choosing that enriched the world around them. Mrs. Livingston took this concept and put to work in her classroom. Today 8th grade students presented their 20 Time Project to the rest of the school. Each project was unique and creative.

The Solar Eclipse is coming next Monday, 4/8/24. Peak viewing for the solar eclipse will be at 3:15pm. We urge parents to educate your children about safe viewing practices, including the use of certified solar viewing glasses or pinhole projectors. Thank you to our local library for providing solar eclipse glasses to all of our students. Extra eclipse glasses may be picked up at the local library. Supervision of younger children during the eclipse is advised. Remember, not looking directly at the solar eclipse is best practice just like we don’t look directly at the sun.

Our middle and high school students had a fantastic experience participating in the LSSU Pi day math competition this week! They formed four teams (two HS - two MS) and engaged in a series of high level, fast paced sessions. The competition was strong, but they held their own, both finishing in the top half of the 28 competing teams. Great job everyone, we're proud of you!

Due to freezing rain, high wind, dropping temperatures and weather not getting better until later this afternoon, DeTour Area Schools, and DATA will be closed today. We will make the determination as to whether or not we will have extra curriculars later today. Please share.
